Meet the Maxim Team - Rosie Affleck

We have a new member of the Team! Within the last few weeks Rosaleen Affleck (Rosie) has joined us as our Sustainability and Community Co-ordinator, so we have been chatting to Rosie to find out a bit more about her!

Welcome to Maxim Park Rosie! Please can you tell us about your new role?

My role is very wide-ranging and includes organizing events and activities, introducing new charity initiatives, helping tenants take care of the allotment and community garden, talking about and championing sustainability and the ESG strategy at the Park and more. I love it!

What roles have you held prior to joining Maxim Park?

I spent 22 years in retail banking, and for the last few years I looked after staff engagement and supported with charity & community projects.

So what sort of things will be keeping you busy in the coming months?

There are a multitude of events and activities I am in the process of planning right now including some markets and of course, all of our festive activities.  I am also working on our Active Travel plans at the minute.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Maxim Park?

The allotment!!  I have discovered a passion for gardening and for seeing something grow from a tiny seed to something that has huge value as a food source. No day is the same as the previous day, I am challenged and feel really fulfilled each day! I am extremely lucky to work with the absolute best team, and I feel really supported and valued.

What makes Maxim Park a special place to work?

Maxim is really unique as a place to work.  We are surrounded by the most incredible plant life and wildlife, all in the middle of Lanarkshire.  We have an amazing community spirit here, it’s just like a wee village.

Please can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I have now become the resident beetroot pickler!  When the first crop of beetroot was harvested, I had to learn how to do it and now it’s a regular occurrence when we have a beetroot crop!

What keeps you busy when you are not working at Maxim?

My husband Kenny & son Lewis keep me busy as well as our two rescue dogs Daisy & Casper.  I love watching football and I enjoy getting to spend time with family and friends, eating good food and drinking good wine! I also try to get to the gym a few times a week.

What was the last book you read?

The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas. I got through it in a day and a half lying at the pool in Cape Verde!

And finally, can you name your top 3 movies of all time?

Jaws, The Commitments & The Silence of The Lambs
