The golfing world's highest ranked Scot* is to team up with the UK's leading speculative build office park development in a unique collaboration that will create one of the country's largest PGA-approved putting surfaces.
Fresh from his superb ninth place finish in the last of the year's golf majors - the USPGA at Oakland Hills - Alastair Forsyth will work with the developers of the £330 million Maxim Office Park located at Lanarkshire's Eurocentral on a project that will bring world class putting facilities to the development in the early part of 2009.
The move will also see Forsyth wear the Maxim logo during competitive action. Karen Campbell, Chief Executive of Maxim, said,
"The deal with Alastair is another example of the fact we want to bring something special to the table in terms of everything we do on site. The level of support facilities is vital in our efforts to attract major organisations and businesses to Maxim." "By 2010 there will be 10 superb office buildings on site offering some 750,000 sq.ft. of high quality business space - the first two of which will be completed in November and December this year. "The new putting surface will be opened in early summer next year and we are working with Alastair, his team at 110sport and the PGA to ensure it meets their exacting standards. The 7,317 sq.ft. (680 sq.m.) putting surface will operate alongside retail, childcare, leisure and arts and events facilities on the Maxim site and Forsyth will be a regular visitor to offer advice and guidance to those using the green. It is the first venture of its kind that Forsyth has been involved with and he will work with the Maxim architects and construction teams on the layout and design of the putting surface. "Having been on site, I was taken aback by the sheer scale of the development and hugely impressed by Karen Campbell's vision and determination to provide top level support facilities for the people who will be working there," added Forsyth.
"The fact the development is also close to home is obviously an attraction and the potential is there
to create something really special."
Ricky Cowan, Director of Sales at 110sport said all involved were excited by the potential for the development:
"We are delighted to be aligning Alastair and 110sport with a tremendous project, which we firmly believe will be a blueprint in terms of future developments of this nature around the UK and Europe. "Alastair's performance in America at the USPGA tournament has further enhanced both his and Scottish golf's reputation on a world stage and projects like this will also put the country at the forefront of business park development in terms of on site facilities."
The Maxim team, including property agents CBRE, JLL and Ryden, are currently in advanced discussions with potential business and retail occupiers for the office park and expect to make further deal announcements in the coming months. * World Golf Rankings after Week 32 - August 10th, 2008. Alastair Forsyth is ranked number 84.
