Bellshill school kids add a touch of green at Maxim Office Park
27/01/2010
Kids from the school’s Eco-Schools’ project visited Maxim accompanied by Head Teacher Sharon McPherson where they met the park’s Chief Executive Karen Campbell and helped plant trees, shrubs and hedging at Building Five of the UK’s largest speculative office park.
Part of the national Eco-Schools’ programme which promotes environmental awareness among school pupils, Mossend is currently working towards achieving its first Green Flag -the top award in the Eco-Schools’ programme - and the landscaping assistance at Maxim will help the school achieve this aim.
Commenting on the pupils’ visit, Maxim Chief Executive Karen Campbell said: “Maxim is very much a part of the local community here in North Lanarkshire, so it was great to welcome the kids along to see the park and put the final touches to our landscaping.
“Despite the cold weather they all seemed to enjoy mucking in with the job and had a lot of fun with the digging and planting involved. With this level of commitment to the local environment I’m sure it’ll be no time at all before they’re proudly hoisting the Eco-Schools’ Green Flag at Mossend Primary.’’
Mossend Head Teacher Sharon McPherson added: “We’d like to thank Maxim for inviting us to the park to take part in the landscaping as all the children enjoyed the exercise immensely.
“It was also great to get such a close glimpse of this impressive office park, a place after all, where many of these pupils may well find themselves working in the years ahead.’’
